Privacy notice
What stays in your browser
All calculations run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. There is no backend, no server-side database, and no account. Your wage, tip, hour, and employee data never leaves your device.
Inputs you enter in the detailed worksheet are saved in your browser's localStorage under the ftc/v1/ namespace (for example, ftc/v1/detailed/foodBeverage). Quick-mode inputs are saved under ftc/v1/quick. This data persists indefinitely until you clear it or your browser removes it.
United States-directed Service
The Service is intended for U.S. businesses and their advisers and concerns U.S. federal tax law and U.S. federal and state wage rules. It is not directed at, marketed to, or intended for users in the European Union, European Economic Area, or United Kingdom.
All calculations run locally in your browser. No personal or wage data entered into the Service is transmitted to, collected by, or stored on any server.
Analytics is currently off
This site does not currently use any analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts. If analytics is ever enabled, it would only transmit coarse, bucketed ranges (such as "credit between $5k and $10k") — never raw wages, tips, hours, employee counts, or labels. The privacy notice will be updated if that changes.
PDFs and downloads
When you download a screening estimate (or, later, a CPA review pack), the PDF is generated in your browser and saved wherever your browser saves downloads. It may contain employee labels and payroll-derived figures. Treat the PDF as sensitive and store it securely.
Use generic employee IDs, not names
The employee label field is optional. Use payroll IDs or generic labels like "Server 1" rather than legal names. Labels are stored in localStorage and may appear in downloaded PDFs. Avoid entering personally identifiable information.
How to clear your data
Click "Clear saved data" on any calculator page to remove all ftc/v1/keys from localStorage. You can also clear localStorage through your browser settings, or use private/incognito mode so no data is saved at all. In detailed mode, you can toggle "Don't save — session only" to keep data in memory only for the current page visit.
Shared devices
If you use this tool on a shared or public computer, use private/incognito mode or toggle "Don't save — session only" in detailed mode. Clear saved data before you leave the device.
